Lindos | Rhodes | Greece

Luke & Lauren

Luke & I met in 2012 when I began working in the village pub where he was the chef, although we both grew up in the same small village in Wales, we hadn’t really spoken until then.

Luke proposed on our balcony before dinner in KOS in 2019. We were on holiday with friends and he had got them to bring the ring over there with them so that I wouldn’t find out. I adored his private proposal. We both agreed straight away that we wanted to marry abroad.

A colleague in my now job mentioned that her daughter had married in Lindos (we had never been to Rhodes!). That’s when we began researching weddings in Lindos and came across Lindos weddings. The stunning pictures and lovely reviews on their facebook page made our minds up straight away and we didn’t look any further!

I went for a simple sheath dress, I had fallen in love with the lace straps. I wore small hoop earrings and a bracelet that Luke’s mum had wrapped and given to me a couple of days before the wedding. I had a bouquet of olive sprigs and white roses, and the men had buttonholes to match. I was blown away when it was delivered, the pictures also don’t do it justice!

Nick and his team did my hair and make-up. I didn’t even show him a picture of what I wanted, he knew instantly what would suit me and we went for a natural fresh make-up look with bronze eyeshadow to compliment my brown eyes. For my hair I had a relaxed perfectly imperfect summery updo with gypsophilia, it was still in place the next morning!

Our ceremony was at St Pauls Bay, we had Mark play guitar and bottles of water for guests, we didn’t opt for any other décor for our ceremony. Having never seen St Pauls before, I was totally overwhelmed at its beauty and seeing Luke at the top of the steps with his back to me, I cried before even walking down the aisle!

After the ceremony we had the boat cruise which was one of our favourite parts of the day, the perfect way to toast after the ceremony and cool down and experience the beautiful sun set on our way to our reception in Pefkos. Our guests loved it and it made their experience unique.

Our Reception was at Kyma and we don’t believe we could have opted for a better venue. We chose the glass package for décor and the candles and lights reflected beautifully off the venues large glass windows. The view of the sunset over the sea was incredible. We had Pimms for welcome drinks. For dinner we had a greek meze to start, the starters just kept on coming our guests were amazed! Our guests were given a choice of main course, we had a mix of Lamb, Beef, Chicken and Seabass and each meal was presented beautifully. For desert we had a greek baklava with wedding cake (vanilla sponge with chocolate filling, it was DELICIOUS)

For entertainment we had Mark Usher as our MC and DJ, he was fantastic and knew exactly what to play to keep us dancing all evening! Kostas, the owner of Kyma showed us some greek dancing which our guests loved. We can’t Thank Gemma and Kostas enough for all they did for us on the day. Their kindness made our day all the more special.

3 words to describe our day.. BEST DAY EVER. We would not change a single thing!
A special thank you to Yvonne and Sarah who were there with us on the day making sure everything ran smoothly. You really are in the best hands with Karen and her team!

Advice for future couples.. I know this is said a lot but the day really does go by in the blink of an eye, enjoy every moment including the build up!
