Lindos | Rhodes | Greece

Emma & Alain Macquire

We first met through my best friend Lindsay, her older brothers friend. We first officially met on a mutual friends 21st birthday trip away to the Isle of Islay for the weekend. Where I knocked him back initially. We eventually kissed a couple of months later at a house party..and that was it…

We got engaged in our home. I randomly came home from work one day to flowers in the hallway and our songs playing in the background and Alain was down on one knee in the living room. It was all a blur, I can’t remember exactly what he said..but I said yes!

I had many family holidays in lindos growing up so knew lindos very well. Alain and I’s first holiday together was in Lindos and we knew right away that we wanted to marry there.
Lindos weddings was well known in the village..so it was a no brainer who to use! I searched online and Facebook for Karens page and instantly starting messaging Karen and immediately knew she was the one!!

Hair style was a hard one. I scrolled many an instagram Pinterest for ideas. I have very thick hair and knew I wanted it up off my neck.
The girls at Nigal were AMAZING!!! I showed her a couple of pictures and she couldn’t of got it any more perfect! It stayed up all day and night ( even the next day!!!) We added the pearls last minute and it finished the look perfectly!
Make up I kept it natural and simple. I don’t wear a lot of make up normally only on the occasional night out! The make up really made my eye colour pop..in fact the first thing Alain said to me when I met him at the alter was “your eyes are soo blue”.
I found the dress shopping very easy. I knew what style I wanted, plain and simple, however my dress ended up being embellished with lace detail all over. It ment I didn’t need much accessorising as my dress had so much detail.

My favourite part had to be saying our own vows to one another. I remember Yvonne suggesting at our first wedding meet and I initially shot her down and said no way!! I hate public speaking and any attention on me.. however once I got my around it and processed it more it was the BEST thing we did. It made the day more personal and in that moment it felt like it was just me and Alain no one else. That and my daughter saying a poem at the ceremony was just beautiful.

We had to chop and change our wedding ceremony and reception venue a few times due to covid. St. Paul’s bay was our original choice and I’m so glad we were aloud to do back outside the St. Paul’s chapel in the end. The overwhelming feeling of walking down to at Paul bay it just pure romance. No other place has that feeling.

Our dinner reception we went to Odyssia. Again the most authentic and romantic setting. The couple that own the venue, I cannot thank them enough.. they went above and beyond the days before and on our wedding day.
We opted for the Greek meze for our meal and unlimited drinks package. I swear my guests still talk about how much food there was that night and how incredible everything tasted!! It was great sharing everything at the table.

We opted for the electric violinist for our ceremony and first dance. She was just breathtaking to watch and listen to. The music just set the atmosphere and complemented the surrounding too.

Our Wedding day in three words.. emotional, perfect and intimate.

Best advice is don’t sweat the small stuff and just be in the moment.

Finally the trust and reassurance from Karen and her team is just on another level! I don’t even know where to begin to to thank the lindos weddings team for all their help through planning a covid pandemic wedding! The most individual, personal and professional care was received from the whole team at every single stage of planning!!! The tears, the phone calls, the endless emails and zoom calls!! You girls are simply the BEST!!!!
