Will & Stef

Will and I met 11 years ago through work and in that time have had many holidays and 2 children together.
We got engaged in 2014 just before our daughter was born, we knew then we wanted to wait to get married until our children were old enough to remember it and enjoy it (which they certainly did!).

Will proposed at home just before Christmas. He took me to get my nails done as a surprise andwhen I got home he was on one knee with my engagement ring hanging on a ribbon on the Christmas tree.

We wanted our wedding to be really relaxed andfor the focus to be us and our family. On the day of our wedding we spent the morning together around the pool at our hotel and then went for lunch before myself and my bridesmaids went to get ready together.

We always knew we wanted to get married abroad and to be somewhere sunny overlooking the sea. Almost 4 years after getting engaged we began to start looking for a venue. We are SO lucky we stumbled across Lindos Weddings online, we knew as soon as we contacted them to enquire about Melenos that we were going to be in good hands. The friendly, knowledgeable and rapid responses we received to any questions we had helped us to enjoy the planning process from the start and across the following two years.

I chose to have my hair up for the day with some loose curls and pearl and sparkly hairpins I had brought over from home. I decided to keep my makeup quite natural and I was really happy with both all day.

I was so happy with my dress, I knew I wanted to keep it quite floaty on the bottom to help keep as cool as possible in the 39 degree heat and it was perfect! We had quite a breeze on the day which helped but I was so caught up in the excitement of the day I hardly noticed the heat. I had a small train and wore sparkly small heels. I fell in love with my bouquet and have had so many comments about it from the photos since. I went for white roses with olive leaves and eucalyptus and it was exactly what I had hoped for.

Our wedding day was perfect, fun andmemorable. The part that stands out to us the most is being able to stand at the front with our children to say our vows. Karen and her team realised how important that was to us very early on and ensured the whole day had a very family feel. This along with champagne cruise that we kept as a surprise from our guests were the best parts of our day.

From all of the photos we’d seen of Melenos we loved plants and flowers of the garden terrace. We chose pale pinks for our bridesmaid dresses (with pearls and sparkles that we knew would stand out in the evening with the lanterns) andnavy shorts with white shirts for the boys, which we feel tied in nicely with the scenery of the venue.

The scenery here, along with the lanterns andviews of the sea and across Lindos are what made us choose this venue. It was exactly as we had imagined it would be and we couldn’t believe our luck when we got to visit it with Lorna during our Lindos meeting a few days before the wedding.

As we loved the scenery so much already we didn’t feel we needed to add much decoration to the venue. We chose the rustic olive package for the table as it tied in with my bouquet and the fairy lights down the middle of the table tied in with the lanterns above in the evening. We also had some larger lanterns that added to this look in the evening and it was beautiful.

During the ceremony our guests had pimms andlistened to Mark who played a selection of songs we had chosen beforehand on guitar. This was another aspect that helped to add a bit more individuality to our day. I’ll never forget him playing our aisle song ‘never seen anything’ that afternoon.

Throughout the evening we ate a number of courses including feta wrapped in filo pastry with honey and traditional beef kebabs. Our semi naked wedding cake filled with jam and cream was delicious. We played our own playlist of songs throughout the evening which worked really well and felt very special to us.

If we were going to offer any advice to future couples it would be to do your best to relax andtrust Karen and her team as you really are in the very best hands. They listen to everything you hope to have on your day and do their very best to make it all happen exactly as you hope for. We really didn’t believe it could be quite as perfect as it really was.
