Sam & Dave Hucknell

Dave and I met when I was only 14, the usual hanging around with friends on a park teenager vibe! Dave was a popular lad and I was pretty shy at that age but we all became friends (I really fancied him but was too shy, I mean he was a boy!) haha. Over the years we became best friends and spent a lot of time together and would buy each other Christmas presents (as friends). He would always walk me home on a night so I wasn’t on my own.
When I was 18 we both went on a girls and lads holiday and happened to go to the same place ( I think us girls planned it) we had a romantic swim in the sea at 4am in the morning (still as friends)! The same week we arrived home we realised we was more then friends and quickly fell in love. We spent every minute together and 2 years later bought our first home together.

I really wanted a ring on my finger but he was pretty stubborn and would not budge from the 5 year mark before he would think about it lol. For our 5 year anniversary he took me to Paris! Dave had booked a nice restaurant and proposed to me and made all my dreams come true.

It took us 7 years to get to the point of finally booking a wedding date with having 2 children within that time, which you can imagine takes all your time and money! With the help of our best man and bridesmaids encouragement we set the date on our anniversary and always knew we wanted to get married abroad.

My friend I worked with at the time told me to look into Lindos weddings as she had previously planned her wedding with Karen and her team and showed me her photo album which I clearly fell in love with there was no other questions needed and contacted Karen straight away. With current situations and the not knowing if our wedding would go ahead with Covid I’d never felt stress like it, but Karen and her team where faultless and so so amazing, we couldn’t have asked for better wedding planners.

We landed in Greece on 25th July it was hot hot hot! But so so beautiful. The next day we met with Yvonne and amber (amazing ladies) went through our wedding day plans step by step, it was real and it was finally happening. That night I had my hair and makeup trial and was so pleased with the end result. I chose to have my hair up with a sparkly leaf comb accessory and a natural bronzed makeup finish, which can I add stayed perfect all day even in the 43degree heat!

I stayed in love with my dress after having bought it nearly 2 years ago and fell in love with it all over again on our wedding day, never in my life have I felt so amazing and happy with how I looked. I had a fish tail style dry with a small train but enough to look amazing with all the fine detail. I wore diamanté sandals which I’m so pleased I did and where so comfy.

We had our ceremony at St. Paul’s which looked and was so magical, we went for simple but elegant decoration with cream carpet and trees. We had mark playing the guitar, he was amazing and the guests complimented how he made our day extra special then walked us back into Lindos village. The love and congratulations from all the people in the village was so lovely. We had an hour location photo shoot which I am so pleased we did as the time goes so fast your memory becomes blank and the photos are needed to remind you of how special your day was, I’m greedy and want to do it again straight away!

I think my favourite part of the day was walking upto dave down the isle at St. Paul’s and once I was at reach pulling his arm so he could see me and the look on his face, I’ve never seen that look of love and both our eyes filled with happiness. ( this the soppiest your getting)

We had our reception at philosophia which wasn’t in our first set of wedding plans but I’m so glad we went their, the set up was amazing, we only had a small wedding party and we had dinner under the most beautiful lit up tree watching the sun set. Such a special moment which we was able to catch on camera and keep forever! We kept it simple and elegant for our reception table and added an extra touch with our wedding favours, McMillan pins and scratch cards and I had made special wedding colouring books for the children which kept them busy! Food was exquisite I had lamb shank which just melted in my mouth. It was the owners birthday the same day so we joined in singing her happy birthday which she truly deserved amazing lady!

To find the words to describe our wedding day is actually really difficult! As I don’t think there are enough words to describe the fun, joy, happiness and love it has brought to us. I would relive our special day over and over again if I could and will hold the memories extra close as that was the day I became an official Hucknall, and now have the best husband a girl could need and 2 amazing children I can now share the same name with.

All I could say for future brides are to trust the girls at Lindos weddings, trust what they suggest is best because they will be absolutely right and on your wedding day you will not have a worry in the world. The girls made our day happen the smoothest we could have ever imagined they are truly faultless and amazing.
